At Lambda Chi Alpha, we firmly believe that it is our duty as members of the community, as students, and as people to support individuals in need and organizations that help them.
Because actions speak louder than words, our dense philanthropic calendar includes events that work with organizations such as the Special Olympics Committee, the Boys and Girls Club, Feeding America, and others. Additionally, individual brothers routinely participate in many UCLA Greek Philanthropic events and support various clubs, groups, and organizations both on and off campus. Many of our brothers are members of UCLA Mentorship, an on-campus organization that aims to serve the community by pairing UCLA students with mentees aged K-12, many of whom come from underserved communities in Los Angeles. Throughout the academic year, we encourage brothers to participate in the various sorority philanthropies by house-funding tickets, supporting the many causes for which these events are organized
Over the course of the 2023-2024 academic year, Lambda Chi Alpha organized a blood drive with the UCLA Blood and Platelet Center, where brothers made such a great showing that a representative came to a chapter meeting to personally voice their appreciation. Furthermore, brothers organized a day of giving in Spring Quarter, where they gathered basic necessities such as dry shampoo, toothbrushes, razors, other everyday objects that many take for granted, and distributed them to those in need in the Westwood area. Our Philanthropy Chair, Charlie Kratus, embodies the essence of giving on a personal level with his wildly popular instagram page, Good Morning UCLA. Alongside his posts highlighting various clubs and entertaining our fellow students, Charlie uses his platform to do good within the community, uplifting those who may need help and spreading a message of good will and compassion to all those who follow.
In addition to our participation in philanthropies hosted by other on-campus organizations (greek and non-greek), a few of our own upcoming philanthropic/community events include:
- Habitat for Humanity Build
- Special Olympics Southern California
- North American Food Drive
- Blood Drive
- Election Polling Location
